Eligibility Criteria

For B.Sc. (Hons.):

• Completion of Class 12 or equivalent from a recognized board.
• Exceptional performance in National Olympiads in Mathematics or Physics may exempt students from the entrance exam (subject to the Admissions Committee's discretion).

For M.Sc.:

• Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.Sc., B.Math, B.Stat., B.E., or B.Tech.) with a strong background in relevant fields:
  • M.Sc. in Mathematics:  Undergraduate degree (BA, BSc, BE, BTech, …) with a strong background in mathematics.
  • M.Sc. in Computer Science:  Undergraduate degree (BA, BSc, BE, BTech, …) with a strong background in computer science.
  • M.Sc. in Data Science:  Undergraduate degree (BA, BSc, BE, BTech, …) with a background in mathematics/statistics/computer science.

For Ph.D.:

• Applicants must have completed a Master’s degree in a relevant field.

1. Ph.D. in Mathematics:  B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.(Math)/M.Sc.(Math).
2. Ph.D. in Computer Science:  B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc.(C.s.)/M.C.A          
3. Ph.D. in Physics:  M.Sc.(Physics).

Exam Pattern

Understanding the exam pattern is crucial for success. The exam is conducted online and have 2 phase:

For B.Sc. (Hons.):

• Part A: 10 questions, 40 marks
• Part B: 6 questions, 60 marks
• Total: 16 questions, 100 marks

For M.Sc.:

• Part A: 10 questions, 30 marks
• Part B: 7 questions, 70 marks
• Total: 17 questions, 100 marks

The exam emphasizes problem-solving, logical thinking, and mathematical reasoning. Prepare for the portions like Calculus, Algebra, Geometry, Combinations and Puzzles.

• The total marks for both exams are 100.
• Part A typically contains shorter, more straightforward questions testing basic concepts.

Applying for the CMI Entrance Exam 2025 is simple and straightforward:

1. Visit the official website: cmi.ac.in.
2. Click on “Online Application” and register with your email and phone number.
3. Log in using the credentials sent to your email.
4. Fill in the required details and review your application.
5. Pay the application fee online via debit/credit card or demand draft.
6. Download and save a copy of the filled application form for future reference.

For those in remote areas, hard copies of the application form can be sent via post.
