Last Few Days Preparation Strategies for IAT & NEST

Last Few Days Preparation Strategies for IAT & NEST

The exam season has started, and IAT 2024 is approaching. If you are preparing for NEST or IAT 2024, we know it is crucial for you. Your last few preparation days must be effective, and don’t waste any time. If you want to know some helpful tips and tricks you can adapt during these remaining days, this blog is for you.

In this blog, we will discuss:

  • IAT 2024 Preparation Strategies
  • NEST 2024 Preparation Strategies

IAT 2024 Preparation Strategies:

IAT 2024 is scheduled on 9th June, and about half a month remains. It is now time to tie all the loose ends of your preparations and finalise them. You can follow the following steps:

  • Do not learn new concepts: With very little time, you must not touch any new concepts. Doing so might confuse you and result in negative marks on questions from that portion. However, if you have confidence in your preparation and find some extra time, you may go for the new topics. You can refer to the lecture series and notes provided by the SciAstra.
  • Revise from your notes: It is now time to take help from the short notes you have made during your preparations. You can also refer to notes provided by SciAstra. Only revise from books if you have marked down specific topics. This will help you to use your time.
  • Attempt mock tests daily: You must attempt a whole syllabus mock test at least once in two days. Practice partial syllabus mock tests, important questions, previous questions, etc, regularly. The practice you do at the last moment helps greatly in an exam. Don’t leave any mock test unattempted.
  • Revise formulae: Don’t go to the exam centre without knowing all the formulae in the syllabus. A direct question based only on a formula often comes in the examination. You must not attempt it incorrectly in any manner.
  • Focus on your forte: You must trust yourself and give more focus on the subjects (PCM or PCB) you had in +2. Give enough time to revise all topics from those subjects.
  • Mnemonics: You can use various mnemonics and visualisation techniques to memorise complex topics, especially in chemistry and biology.
  • Don’t waste time: Do not waste time on social media, with friends, family, etc. These last few days demand your undivided attention toward your preparations. Spending time here and there can deviate your focus from your studies and ruin your hard work.
  • Take proper sleep: Do not get sick during these days—every minute counts from now on. Hence, it is important to rest properly, eat well, and sleep 6-7 hours.
  • Stay Motivated: You must be motivated throughout your remaining days of preparation. This will boost your confidence on the exam day. You must trust yourself and be determined that your hard work for the past many months won’t go to waste. You can talk to your mentors at SciAstra for personalised mentorship and motivation.

NEST 2024 Preparation Strategies:

The NEST 2024 is scheduled for 30th June. With only 40 days left, you must start winding up your preparations and focus on revising and practising problems. Here are a few tips you can adopt:

  • Strengthen your concepts: NEST is more complicated than IAT or JEE. You must have your concepts well-built, and if you struggle while solving questions, you must get back to your books to revise those concepts.
  • Don’t learn new concepts: Though you can learn new concepts from chemistry and biology, you should not learn anything new from mathematics and physics. Questions in the NEST exam are typically conceptual and require critical thinking and a proper understanding of the concepts. Thus it is necessary for you to deeply know whatever topics you have studied.
  • Revision:  Revise everything you have learnt. Give quick revisions to every topic at least once. Revise your mistakes from previously solved mock tests.
  • Problem Solving: You can only be confident in your preparations if you practice enough questions daily—practice questions of various levels.
  • Mock Tests: Attempt whatever mock tests you have. The more you practice, the more habitual you become in the exam environment. It is this temperament that will boost your confidence on the D-day.
  • Take proper sleep: Do not get sick during these days—every minute counts from now on. Hence, it is important to rest properly, eat well, and sleep 6-7 hours.
  • Don’t waste time: Do not waste time on social media, with friends, family, etc. These last few days demand your undivided attention toward your preparations. Spending time here and there can deviate your focus from your studies and ruin your hard work.
  • Stay Motivated: With the exam coming close, it is obvious to get scared and think that your preparation is not sufficient. You must trust yourself and be determined that your hard work for the past many months won’t go to waste. You can talk to your mentors at SciAstra for personalised mentorship and motivation.

You can join our mock test series and rescue courses to boost up your preparations at the last moment. We have records of our students increasing their scores by 30-40 through these courses in previous years.

Conclusion:

IAT and NEST are important exams for students interested in pursuing science at top institutions like IISc, IISERs, IIT Madras, NISER, and CEBS. With only a few days left for the exam, correct strategies and proper mentorship become crucial for aspirants. If you follow the suggested strategies with proper discipline and work hard for the remaining days, you will definitely pass with flying colours. We wish you all the best!
