What Is ISI?

The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is a famous university in India, well-known for its strong programs in statistics and similar subjects. It started in 1931, originally as a statistics lab in Kolkata, but now it has grown and has multiple campuses. ISI is well-respected around the world for its tough but excellent courses, especially the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Statistics. It’s also a top place for research, with departments working on different topics like statistics in real-life applications, economic studies, and math.

ISI has an interesting history too. It was founded by Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, a forward-thinking statistician who helped make statistics an important area of study in India. The work done by ISI in the early days, like survey methods and studying genetics through statistics, really helped shape India’s policies and development. ISI is proud of its former students, who have gone on to do great things in schools, governments, and businesses all over the world. With its strong education, research, and history, ISI stands out as a special place in the field of statistics in India.
