IISER Aptitude Test 2024 Cut-off Marks

IISER Aptitude Test 2024 Cut-off Marks

The IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2024 is a great mode of entrance to prestigious institutes like IISc, IISERs, and IIT Madras. With its increasing popularity, it is becoming competitive to crack. If you are preparing for IAT 2024 and want to know what the cutoff marks will be, this blog will surely help you. Several key factors determine the cutoff marks for the exam, and it is essential for you to understand and adapt to these changes.

In this blog, we will discuss:

  • Increased Competition in IAT 2024
  • IAT 2024 cutoff marks
  • Important Strategies for IAT 2024

Increased Competition in IAT 2024:

The addition of IIT Madras and IISc Bangalore to the IAT registration process has led to a significant rise in the number of applicants. Furthermore, the inclusion of first-time 2022 droppers has further intensified the competition, as a large pool of JEE and NEET students now have the opportunity to take the IAT exam.

Another significant development is the removal of the JEE Advanced channel and the KVPY program. This means that 100% of the admission to all the IISERs will now be through the IAT exam. This change in the admission process has elevated the importance of the IAT, making it the only gateway to the IISERs.

IAT 2024 Cutoff Marks:

With these changes in mind, it is necessary for aspiring students to have a clear understanding of the expected cutoff marks for IAT 2024. By analysing the cutoff data from previous years and considering the factors that may influence the cutoff, we can provide a comprehensive overview of the marks required for admission across different categories.

Note: There are no official records of cutoff marks as IISERs never released them. This blog refers to the data from a survey conducted by SciAstra to obtain marks vs rank data.

General/OBC Category: For the General and OBC categories, the expected cutoff range for IAT 2024 is between 105 and 125 marks. It is important to note that this is a range, and the exact cutoff may vary depending on the difficulty level of the exam and the overall performance of the candidates. To get IISER Kolkata and Pune, you must work hard enough to get 150+ and for IISc, you must try to get 200+ in the IAT 2024.

EWS Category: In the EWS category, the expected cutoff range is 85 to 105 marks. This category has seen a significant increase in demand, and students must be prepared to secure a high score to secure their admission.

OBC/NCL Category: For the OBC/NCL category, the expected cutoff range is also 85 to 105 marks. It is crucial for students in this category to ensure that they have the necessary OBC/NCL certificate, as filling out the form incorrectly can lead to their application being treated as a General category candidate.

SC and ST Categories: The expected cutoff ranges for the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories are 55 to 75 marks and 35 to 45 marks, respectively. While these categories have lower cutoffs, it is important for students to strive for the highest possible score to secure their admission.

Strategies for IAT 2024 Success:

Here are some key strategies you can consider:

Prepare for the Worst-Case Scenario-

Given the increasing difficulty level of the IAT exam, it is crucial to prepare for the worst-case scenario. This means that you should focus on mastering the most challenging concepts and be ready to tackle questions of the highest difficulty level. By preparing for the toughest scenario, you will be better equipped to handle any difficulty that the exam may present.

Attempt All Four Subjects-

Students from a background in both PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), it is highly recommended to attempt all four subjects in the IAT exam. This approach increases the chances of achieving the desired score, as you can apply your strengths in multiple subject areas.

Preparation Resources-

Maintain a diary of your mistakes in mock tests and problem practices. Keep revising it to know ‘what not to do’. Join SciAstra courses. We provide sufficient materials like PYQs, mock tests, notes for the important topics in all four subjects, lectures, and, most importantly, one-to-one mentorship for each and every student.

Manage Time and Stress Effectively-

The IAT exam is not only intellectually demanding but also requires strong time management and stress-coping skills. You should develop effective time management strategies, practice stress-reduction techniques, and maintain a healthy balance between preparation and self-care to ensure you perform at your best on the day of the exam.

Conclusion:

The standard of questions and level of the exam should not be a worry for you. You must focus on your preparation and score well in each subject. IAT is relatively easy, but this doesn’t mean you can easily clear the exam without preparing hard. Maintaining confidence, motivation, and focus while getting ready is important. Remember, the path is not easy, but destiny is beautiful. Try your best and enjoy the learning process. All the best!

Q: Is it required to complete past years’ test questions and mock tests?

A: Yes, it is necessary to complete past years’ question papers and practice exams in order to become acquainted with the format of the test, evaluate your level of preparation, and define areas in which you need to improve. During the actual exam, it lessens anxiety and boosts confidence.
