Do you dream of getting into top research institutes like IISERs, IISc or IIT Madras? Are you preparing for IAT 2024? Are you confused about what material to refer to and what books to read? If your answer is yes to all questions, you are reading the right blog. Worrying about books, exams, and many similar things as exams approach is common.
In this blog, we will discuss:
- IAT 2024
- Best books for IAT 2024
- Preparation Strategies
IAT 2024:
IAT 2024 is scheduled for 9th June 2024. This year, IAT is the only mode of entrance to IISERs. Along with this, it will also provide admission to IISc and IIT Madras (for a 4-year BS in medical sciences and engineering). You can expect the level of IAT 2024 to be around the hardest session of JEE Mains 2024. The exam pattern will remain the same as in previous years. Hence, you don’t need to worry about the new format. You only need to work consistently and practice well for IAT 2024.
There will be 15 questions, each from physics, chemistry, maths, and biology, with each question carrying four marks. There will be one mark for negatives. You will get 3 hours to solve the MCQs. You do not need to attempt all four sections; you can attempt one between maths and biology. However, we advise you to attempt all four sections in order to get good marks.
Best Books for IAT 2024:
Whatever material and books you refer to are the most important factors in determining your success in exams. It is important that you refer only to relevant books and do not waste your time studying unnecessary topics. Some books only provide theory but lack an applicational approach, and students often do not know how to approach a problem given in an exam. Following are some books you can refer to while preparing for IAT 2024:
-
- SciAstra: For the first time, SciAstra has introduced a unique solution – their all-in-one SciAstra books, explicitly designed for IAT. NCERT books, along with SciAstra books and materials, are a deadly combo and can help you clear your exams efficiently.
- NCERT: The syllabus for IAT is primarily based on the classes 11th and 12th NCERT syllabus. You must give at least a read of NCERT books on all four subjects. It is important to consider that NCERT books only have basic coverage of topics and lack an in-depth conceptual understanding of subjects.
- Cengage: Cengage has become a popular brand for books related to competitive exams. Their series for physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics are suitable for exams like JEE and NEET and can easily help students prepare for IAT or NEST.
- Concepts of Physics: There are two volumes of CoP written by Prof. HC Verma. Students preparing for competitive exams consider these books the ‘bible’ of physics. If you struggle with conceptual problems in physics and want to understand concepts better, you must refer to these books.
Why should I buy SciAstra books?
There are multiple reasons for this:
- Varied Exercise Levels: SciAstra’s books offer exercises at different levels, making them suitable for students at various stages of preparation. The books start with Level 1, which contains basic questions, allowing beginners to build a strong foundation. They then progress to Level 2, which includes questions from previous years from IAT and NEST dating back to 2007.
- Affordable and Accessible: SciAstra’s pricing for these books is a real game-changer. Despite containing more than 4100 pages and providing comprehensive coverage of the subjects, these books are available at an affordable rate of just Rs. 3999 after factoring in printing, binding, and doorstep delivery. This affordability ensures that even students with limited resources can access high-quality IAT preparation materials.
- Free Samples Available: You can also grab free samples from the SciAstra App. Free PDF samples of two chapters from each book have been uploaded to the free study material section of the SciAstra app. You can explore these samples to get a taste of what these books offer before making a purchase.
Preparation Strategies:
Know the Syllabus: Once you have the syllabus, carefully review it to determine the most important topics and their weight. Make a well-organized study schedule that allows enough time to cover each topic in detail, giving high-weighted subjects priority. This strategy guarantees that your study time is used effectively and allows for focused preparation to increase your exam success rate.
Effective Study Materials: Effective preparation requires using high-quality study materials. You can rely on SciAstra for quality content and regular practice sessions. Check out our courses here.
Time Management: Time is the most important thing in your preparation. Try to improve your time management while solving mock papers. During practice sessions, set time limits for every section to replicate exam conditions.
Tricks and Tips: Learn and practice shortcut techniques for handling conceptual and mathematical problems. This will reduce time and help you solve questions in less time.
Mentorship: SciAstra provides personalised mentorship along with its online courses, which are designed especially for IISER candidates. You can improve your understanding of any subject by using the in-depth study materials, video lectures, and practice questions available, whether it’s physics, biology, chemistry, or mathematics. You can be sure that Sci-Astra will cover every subject, providing a comprehensive preparation experience.
Refresh yourself: Do not forget to refresh yourself by taking short breaks. You are not a machine and should not work continuously for hours without breaks. Taking proper breaks is important to have good results in preparation and exams.
Revision: Our past years’ performers have shared the most important factor in their success: revision. You can not perform well without proper and regular revision. Give at least 3-4 hours for revision every day. Physics and biology have relatively lower topics than maths and chemistry. Hence, you can divide your schedule depending on what topics you need to study more.
Conclusion:
You should not run after a lot of books instead, try to follow only a few trusted books heartfully. It has been seen that students who try to study from a lot of books end up getting confused. Hence, it is important to have quality books. With SciAstra, you get quality materials and personalised mentorship for your preparation for precious exams like IAT or NEST.
