Some general guidelines:
Before applying, you should review each program’s eligibility requirements listed on the IISc website. Depending on their eligibility and preferences, you can submit your applications online by choosing one or more departments/disciplines under each program.
Here are some general guidelines for you.
- Applications for more than one degree program should be sent separately by the candidates. However, only one application needs to be made for every degree program. Applications submitted more than once for the same program will be disqualified.
- While some programs and disciplines, such as GATE and JAM, admit students immediately based on their national entrance exams, others use the results of the national entrance exam to shortlist applicants and then hold a second interview to determine which students to admit. To understand the procedure, carefully read the instructions under each degree program and discipline. Please take note that receiving a call for an interview does not grant the applicant any admissions rights to the Institute.
- One week prior to the interviews, all of the shortlisted SC/ST candidates for the post-graduate and research programs will receive an invitation to participate in a pre-interview familiarisation program at the Institute. However, sometimes, this program depends on the academic year in which it will be held.
- The Indian government has set aside 5% of seats for applicants who have disabilities. The benefit would be awarded to candidates with a permanent physical impairment of at least 40% pertaining to a body part, system, extremity, whole body, etc.
