Her eight-year-old daughter grew bored with traditional educational methods, during the COVID-19 pandemic, so she founded STEMonsters.
@Dr. Sonali Dasgupta, founder of @STEMonsters is on a mission to revolutionize how children learn science and mathematics.
With a solid educational background, including a Ph.D. in physics from IIT Delhi, and over 12 years of extensive research in photonics alongside some of the brightest minds in the scientific community, Dr. Sonali was well-equipped to address her daughter’s innocent questions and curiosities.
Dr. Sonali noticed that Srishti’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new topics surged when she explored them outside of her school curriculum.
Before the pandemic, she would often expose Srishti to science by bringing model samples from her research lab or taking her to work. However, the lockdown eliminated these opportunities for hands-on learning.
Undeterred, Dr. Sonali transformed her home into a makeshift laboratory to instill a sense of wonder and curiosity in her daughter.
This transformation gave birth to “STEMonsters,” a platform designed to bridge the gap in the educational system. STEMonsters focuses on explaining fundamental concepts in science and mathematics while nurturing the innate curiosity in children.
The platform offers a continuous learning program that brings kids aged 8 to 14 together on Zoom to explore the nuances of science and math.
The classes are divided into groups – Classes 3 and 4, Classes 5 and 6, and Classes 7, 8, and 9.
Dr. Sonali emphasizes that STEMonsters is not just another online educational platform but a holistic learning ecosystem that aims to build a strong STEM foundation in children.
The programs are designed to develop problem-solving skills and instill confidence in young learners, encouraging them to explore the unknown and stay curious.
Dr. Sonali explains that STEMonsters’ programs are live and instructor-led, driven by curiosity to foster higher-order thinking skills. The ultimate goal is to prepare children for the ever-evolving career landscape by bridging the gap between textbook knowledge and practical, application-oriented skills.
She aspires to transform today’s curious children into confident innovators of tomorrow.
